ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Saturday announced Rs 50,000 cash prize for Police Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Farzana.
The ASI was rewarded for displaying commendable professional behaviour during a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest called by PTI Chairman Imran Khan in the federal capital on Thursday. She was also awarded a certificate of commendation.
She suffered minor bruises while performing her duty during a scuffle with a female PTI worker – who have been alleging that Farzana assaulted the female political activist.
Farzana – in a video message released on Saturday– gave her side of the story by saying the female PTI worker was threatening to hit a male police officer with a stone and got attacked when she tried to stop her. “If I had not stopped her from throwing that stone, she would have injured someone,” she maintained.
Seemabia Tahir, the PTI worker, when restrained from further fighting with anyone, was captured on video saying, “I am an army officer’s daughter, you will bear the consequences and you will remember that you messed with a PTI supporter.”
However, in another video message released on Saturday, Tahir said that it was unfair to blame her for assaulting the police officer – as her actions were in self-defence.
