KARACHI: The federal government has directed Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to open an investigation against MQM’s London-based leader Altaf Hussain for money laundering, getting training and funding from Indian spy agency RAW and spreading chaos in Pakistan.
The government has also ordered FIA to get information from Sarfaraz Merchant about Altaf. Online got information from Interior Ministry that Interior Minister Nisar Ali Khan had constituted two committees consisting of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and FIA to investigate the statements of Sarfaraz Merchant. Both committees have dispatched separate letters to Merchant asking for cooperation and to record his statement in the probe against Altaf. The federal government has directed FIA that the investigations against the MQM leader must reach a logical conclusion on the basis of solid evidence and proofs.
In this connection other law enforcement agencies have also been instructed to hand over the proofs of all the cases against Altaf to FIA, which will also contact former Karachi nazim Mustafa Kamal in this regard who, in a dramatic return to the city, revealed for the first time his reasons behind his controversial exit from MQM and criticised Altaf Hussain for “deception” and what he called his poor running of one of Karachi’s strongest political parties.
