KARACHI: Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) Chairman Mustafa Kamal on Monday urged the establishment to not “kill people but instead work to change the mindset”.
Addressing a press conference, the PSP chief claimed that killing workers lies in the interest of Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain, who believes in politics of dead bodies.
Kamal was joined by PSP President Anees Kaimkhani and some 260 MQM office-holders who announced their allegiance to Kamal’s party in the press conference.
On the occasion, Anees Kaimkhani said of the 260 persons joining them, 12 were former members of Nine Zero’s central administration, 13 were sector in-charges and 39 unit in-charges among other office holders.
PSP chief Mustafa Kamal said that they have been able to recruit more members as they are presenting a new and alternative narrative. The party seeks to help those who have gone astray, he remarked.
Kamal, also mentioned that Altaf is to be blamed if any of his party workers have committed any crimes since he had preached hatred and incited them to violence. However, if a worker was apprehended or killed the MQM would disown them, he said.
Kamal also questioned why Altaf never groomed a single leader to take his place in the future. Altaf has either killed those who showed any spark of leadership qualities or insulted the rest publicly, he said pointing towards the treatment meted out to Dr Farooq Sattar.
“Even a local shopkeeper creates capacity of leadership for his son so that he may replace his father but I ask MQM activists why did Altaf not groom anyone for leadership?”
“I ask you who will lead the party after Altaf? No one will, because he does not want to see MQM once he is gone. He only wants to use the party to shun cases against him,” Kamal added.
Clarifying that his party handed over a list of missing MQM workers to intelligence agencies, Kamal said that MQM chief used Farooq Sattar to carry out a false propaganda to malign the PSP.
“We have come here to guide misguided people to the right path otherwise someone like Altaf Hussain will exploit them for his own benefit,” he said.
